My work has always moved between photography, art, music, publishing, travel and the cultural life of cities.

As a painter, I am particularly interested in people and places: portraits, interiors, streets, architecture and the details that give somewhere its character.

Much of the work has grown out of travel, including recent paintings in France and on the Mediterranean coast — Monte Carlo, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Nice, Roquebrune and Cap Martin — alongside work made in Britain and Morocco l.

London has been a continuing subject. I have photographed and documented some of the clubs, artists, characters and institutions that have made up its less conventional cultural life, particularly around Soho and Fitzrovia.
That interest has also led to a series of publishing projects. In 2008 I produced a book about Gerry’s Club, Gerry’s Gerry Go Round. In 2012 I produced Behind the Green Door, documenting the legendary Colony Room Club and the extraordinary collection of artists, writers, drinkers and eccentrics associated with it. In 2023 I produced Hedonism, marking the rebirth of the Colony Room in Heddon Street as Colony Room Green.
Alongside photography and publishing, I have worked as a DJ, writer, researcher and cultural historian. These different activities overlap: photographs lead to stories, stories lead to research, and research often leads back to the people and places where they began.
This portfolio brings those strands together.
It includes photography, portraits, travel, London, nightlife, art, books and cultural projects — an ongoing record of the places I have been, the people I have encountered and the things I have thought worth preserving.
