William Corbett is a British artist, photographer, writer and cultural historian.

Corbett studied art at Kingsway Princeton and Chelsea College of Art in London in 1982–83.
His creative life has since moved between painting, photography, music, film and publishing. As a photographer he has documented musicians, actors, artists and the characters of London life, particularly the disappearing world of Soho and the Colony Room, as well as working extensively in Morocco.

Corbett produced Gerry-Go-Round (2008), about the famous Soho actors Club, Gerry’s; Behind the Green Door (2012), documenting Soho’s legendary Colony Room Club; and Hedonism (2023), recording its revival by the artist Darren Coffield as Colony Room Green in Heddon Street.

His painting moves between abstraction and figuration. Faces, figures, and landscapes emerge from broad gestures, exposed surfaces, and sometimes only a handful of marks. Rather than completely describing the subject, the paintings leave space for the viewer to find the image.Across painting, photography, and his documentary work runs a common thread: people, place, memory, and the attempt to capture something before it disappears.
